If you can get DSL or Cable, go with those over satellite, definately. See dslreports.com for more info and tons of reviews.

Hey: good to know about that Europe thing! (?) We had Satellite Internet for a couple of months, but it never really worked -- the uplink to the satellite proved upsettilngly finicky. Now, Lysa's cousin has it, and he finds it acceptable, though the uplink lag is sometimes frustrating for him. How are you liking it, Eric? Is it working?

So far, so good. No outages due to storms or anything yet. I'm still getting a feel for things, though. It's *not* DSL or cable, and there are things I'll never be able to do with DirecWay, such as Voice over IP, most online games, and web hosting. There's also a fairly severe "fair use policy" that keeps you from constantly downloading large files (so it's not an ideal way to beef up your porn collection). But, with dial-up my only alternative and me need to spend a lot of time of the web, so far I'm loving it.
