I thought about my recent reading, and I realized that I just finished reading one banned book (Cannery Row) and just started reading another (Memoirs of a Geisha) yesterday. Banned books rule!

In other related news, looking at the banned books list from recent years, Harry Potter usually tops the list as he does this year. I just wanna use this space to say that the Christian Right have been totally wasting their time on Harry Potter. They should be going after the "His Dark Materials" trillogy by Phillip Pulman. If you haven't read these books yet, escpecially the first book in the trilogy, "The Golden Compass (n N. America, "Northern Lights" elsewhere), by all means do! They totally rock!!

I think the banning of any literature is fucking shit! why waste your time trying to opress peoples right to fucking READ! all this banning makes me think ths world is going to end up like montag's society in the book Farenheight 451, wher NO books are legal. all people end up doing is watching T.V. and turning their minds to mush. I hate people who feel the need or are just power hungry to ban books. You people are a goddamn disease. What book IS good enough for you?

I totally agree. Banning books is totally depriving us young children from expanding our minds! There is soooooo much misery in the world and these "banned books" are our only escape into a world where we can really get away from our problems! People should really get over themselves and give it a rest. There is other evil in the world and trying to take away a child's book is not the answer to peace. Most of us children don't even care about Satanism and sex and stuff. If our parents don't agree with us reading this stuff they should tell us not to. Not some weird people who we probably don't even know or will ever meet!!!!! Why would so many people move to America to have rights when they are eventually taken away??? So leave our first amendment right alone and find something else to occupy your puny and pathetic minds!!!!!! ~Complements of a young reader who dispises anyone who messes with her right to read:)

Banning books is good in certain respects such as harry potter and other things that people should not be reading because it fills their minds with crap. The Bible on the other hand, should not be banned. There is so much misery in the world because people do not give God a chance. They think that they can do everything thing on their own and that leaves then unsatisfied in every respect. Would you rather live in misery or live in hope, with a purpose to live for? Give God a chance and you will not be miserable-besides what have you got to lose? Jesus did die on the cross for everyones sins so that we could be with him forever- He loved us that much. All you have to do is pray a simple prayer like Jesus, I know you are Gods son and that you died on the cross for my sins, please forgive me for all of my sins that sent you to the cross- try it- I dare you and gurantee that if you do it sincerely you will never be miserable again.

I agree with banning books, because Childrens are reading stuff that is not right 4 them.
And thing that make them think stuff, or want to do bad stuuf because they want to follow what they read.
Why kids of 12 years can read things about sex???
That's torally wrong!!!!!

Dee dee and Ruairi, who made you God? What gives you the right to say what other people can read? I don't read the Bible, because I find it to be incredibly dull, I read other books because I find them interesting. What happens if some one says that the Bible is bad and ban it?
