I’ve updated the “a few favorites” section over on the sidebar. It’s dynamically generated using the Daily Crawl utility written by Matt at Hit or Miss. He’s als owritten a script that automatically includes what his TiVo’s recording on his weblog, but I lack all sorts of connectivity to manage that.

    Eric,

Is that Daily Crawler thing supposed to show when I update? ‘Cause I did, and it didn’t. I’d hate for you to miss any bat stories. ;-)

    Alas and alack,

    I’ve become a missing link! ;-)

Eric, do you have any experience
with locating bats of the mammal
variety? I think I have misplaced
    one in my apartment.

Kim (and other interested parties): The Daily Crawler will show when you’ve updated if your site is registered with weblogs.com. This weblog portal relies on a “ping” to know when you’ve updated. This ping is built into many content management systems, though not (I think) diaryland. You can create yourself a bookmarklet though that you can manually use to ping weblogs.com. The how-to for this is explained in the FAQ for that site.

Oh… Kim. Have you tried a really high pitched chirping? That usually helps for me :^)

    Eric,

No sign of the bat. I hope it escaped and that I won’t find a wrinkly, leathery mass behind my bookcase one day. I did manage to marvel at its pretty chocolate color as it was hovering over my shoes.

Anyway, Daily Crawler. I’ve signed up. Done some pinging here and there from Weblogs.com, etc. I still don’t notice any effect on your site. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong times? Ich weiss nicht.

    Take care of yourself.

Daily Crawl, when my servers are doing what they’re supposed to, updates itself every hour. I just looked, and my page shows your update. Looks like it’s a go!

I think there is some truth to the adage, “have digital camera, will update more frequently”. I have posted a couple this weekend, and pinged myself silly. Saturday and Sunday posts are not showing up on your page yet. Oops, Saturday here would be your Friday there, anyway, I’ve got some new stuff up.

I loved the comments from the under three foot people at the Farmers’ Market! Kids are marvelous!

    Hi Eric,

Last note of its kind. I updated about 6 hours ago. I saw my name on Weblog’s list. No change on your site. Foo! What could be wrong?
