More housekeeping

I spent a bit more time getting caught up on the housekeeping around here. All of the various pages have been templated, including the archives and comment windows.

There are monthly archives, going all the way back to the beginning (see the side bar), as well as individual archives. To reach those, click on the timestamp under each entry. This is the same as before, and can be used as a permanent link to the entry, suitable for emailing, etc.

Those of you in the habit of leaving comments, take a look at the comment pop-up window. Let me know what you think. You use that window more than I do.

That’s interesting.. on my screen (I use internet explorer) the links I haven’t followed are bright blue, and the links I have go directly to a sort of plum color.
My only issue seems to be that this comment field is wider than the window that opens, and I can’t seem to get the window to go any larger. But I think that’s something I can live with. :)

I agree with Kim! I like this format much better than the format that here before.

Looks good for the most part. The only thing I don’t like is that when you click on a hyperlink it goes to this bright lavendar color that I can’t read on my screen…next time you come back to the Nest the clicked links are a more acceptable version of purple that is just fine…but when you first click it really is sort of blinding…

You folks having problems with the comment box being wider than the window:

The window should be a square, 480 x 480 pixels. Is it?

The comment area should be exactly 50 characters across. I typed “1234567890″ five times, and it fit just right. Does it for you?

Finally, I suppose if your default font size was very large, 50 characters could be quite a bit larger than 480 pixels wide. Are you seeing a large font? I’m not currently controlling font size, but I could if that’s the problem.

Well, despite the majority that has told me they prefer the new pop-up window, I’ve put things back to the old way.

That is, clicking on the comments link will bring you to the individual entry page, where you can add your comment at the bottom. An entry browser is at the top (previous, index, next).

Too many readers are still using older non-compliant browsers or are useing pop-up smashers to leave it the way it was.

Oh… and if this doesn’t look right in your browser, let me know.

Nothing happens when I click on the comments,
but if I click on the time I get brought here
(no pop-up window) and I can access comments.
